Zedira was founded in 2007. The core biotech company specializes in celiac disease (also called gluten sensitive enteropathy or celiac sprue), which is the main disorder caused by gluten sensitivity.

Based on several years of applied research in the Transglutaminase field, Zedira commercializes novel products for research & development and diagnosis of celiac sprue. Further the company plans to develop the first drug to treat celiac disease.
The privately held company is based in Darmstadt – the south Hessian “City of Science” located in a triangle between Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Heidelberg.
